VHS (Vertebral Heart Score tool)
Vertebral Heart Size (VHS) is a number that normalizes (indexes) heart size to body size using mid-thoracic vertebrae as units of measure (see left). It has become the standard indicator of radiographic heart size in dogs, cats, and several other species.
